ICE CUBE CONFIRMS FRIDAY IS COMING BACK!

Just a few weeks after we reported rumors about a fourth installment of the Friday franchise, Ice Cube recently confirmed to TMZ that the film is a go. In addition, the upcoming flick will include the original cast…and yes, Chris Tucker has agreed to reprise his role as “Smokey.” A rep for Cube Vision Productions said in a statement, “[Ice Cube] is very excited about this and has every intention to make it happen.” No word on when the comedy will hit the big screen, we’ll keep you posted.

RICK ROSS PREPS JAY-Z COLLABORATION

During an interview with MTV Sucker Free’s DJ Envy, Rick Ross shed new light on his upcoming album, God Forgives, I Don’t. Rozay says the project will definitely include guest verses from Jay-Z and stated, “You know, whenever me and the homie come together to collaborate, we gotta make it something special for Hip Hop,” he said. “We always make sure we have fun with it, but this record right here, this is our biggest collaboration ever.” The disc is slated to drop early 2012.

· Ross also addressed his recent health scare and explained, “I’m a grinder, I’m a hustler. That’s the next order of business. You’re so used to moving at 80 miles per hour. I gotta get rest now. JAGGED EDGE FACING LAWSUIT FOR MISSING WEDDING

According to TMZ, Jagged Edge was recently accused of failing to show up for a scheduled performance. But not just any showcase, the R&B group missed someone’s wedding! After allegedly being paid 10-thousand dollars for the gig, a man named Victor Diaz tells the site he’s looking to file a lawsuit even though the band says they knew nothing about the ceremony. He claims, “They humiliated me and cost my wife her dream.” A rep for the band stated, “They are very heartbroken and sad that [Victor's] wedding got destroyed due someone using our name without permission.”

WATCH THE THRONE LYRICS TURNED INTO IFC FILM

Jay-Z and Kanye West are expected to appear in an upcoming movie from IFC Films…well, kinda. The lyrics from their GRAMMY-nominated album, Watch the Throne, have been turned into a three-minute mini-movie. According to PopDust.com, the clip is described as a skit “structured to resemble a conversation between three female twenty-something roommates about partying and general lifestyle discrepancies.” You have to view the short film to fully understand:

From the moment we first heard Mary J. Blige’s “Love A Woman” featuring Beyonce, we though this will make an amazing video! After coming on the scene back in 1984, LL Cool J’s contributions to hip hop changed and gave new life to the genre. Put simply, the rapper, who has released thirteen studio albums and two greatest hits compilations, is a living legend. However, he is still waiting to be inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. On April 14th, the Beastie Boys will join Guns N Roses and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers in the music museum in Cleveland.

PLIES FACING 10 MILLION DOLLAR LAWSUIT!

According to AllHipHop.com, Plies is currently wrapped up in a 10-million dollar lawsuit stemming from a 2006 shooting inside a nightclub in Gainesville, Florida. In the suit, five victims were injured following a shooting that occurred before Pies was scheduled to perform at the venue. After learning about the hefty lawsuit, his lawyer Robert A. Rush said in a statement, “The plaintiffs’ claims against my client continue to be without merit, we look forward to having this resolved in a court of justice.” We’ll keep you posted.

THE NEXT SINGLE OFF DRAKE’S TAKE CARE WILL BE…

According to HipHop-N-More.com, Drake has announced that his next single off his Take Care LP will be “The Motto.” In addition to shooing a visual for the Lil Wayne-assisted track, the record will officially impact radio on January 10th. Up next, the title track with Rihanna is expected to run as the promo single for the album.

NAS REMEMBERS AMY WINEHOUSE

We all know Nas had a great friendship with the late Amy Winehouse, but the rapper has spilled new details about what he misses most about the soul singer. In a interview posted on Vimeo.com, the rapper said of Amy, “It’s a bittersweet feeling to do something with her now that she’s not here. I’m happy. The sweet part is that fans have new music from her, new because they’ve never heard it. The bitter part is that she’s no longer her to really give it to us and deliver her music and for us to see her smile and hear her voice.” Nas is featured on Winehouse’s latest disc, Lioness: Hidden Treasures, which is available now.

PHARRELL TO HELP SCORE 2012 ACADEMY AWARDS

According to Deadline.com, Pharrell Williams has reportedly agreed to serve as a musical consultant for the 2012 Academy Awards. The Neptunes producer will work alongside Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer for the highly anticipated ceremony. This marks their first time being the musical supervisors for the event which is scheduled to take place on February 26th, 2012 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California.

NEW DETAILS ON NWA MOVIE!

A biopic about West Coast rap group N.W.A. has been in the works for some time and now, Ice Cube has been named as one of the producers along with John Singleton, who might direct the film. In an interview with The Playlist, Singleton said that he has been in contact with Cube and added that the script is “really really good.” No further details are known at this time.

50 CENT TALKS PLAYGROUND BOOK

HipHop-N-More.com reports 50 Cent is speaking up on why he wanted to release his second book, Playground, which tells the story of a boy struggling with bullies. 50 stated, “This book would have been very helpful for me growing up and now that I have a teenage son, it is my goal that this will have a positive influence on all teenagers.” The semi-autobiographical novel is available for pre-order on Amazon.com now. It hits bookstores on November 1st.

PHARRELL WORKING ON FRANK OCEAN’S DEBUT

During an interview with Vibe.com, Pharrell Williams revealed that he’s been working on Frank Ocean’s upcoming debut album. The hitmaker said of the Odd Future member, “He’s super talented. To me he’s like the black James Taylor. He’s lyrical—he’s got a great perspective and super sick melodies. I haven’t seen anybody bob and weave through chords with such catchy melodies in a long time—that’s why I liked working with him.” No word on when the project will hit stores.

UPDATE ON DR DRE’S DETOX

According to HipHopDX.com, Kendrick Lamar has spilled new details on where Dr Dre is at with his long-awaited Detox LP. The rap rookie stated, “Detox is getting mixed. That’s all I can say. It’s getting mixed. I could say anything about Detox, nobody would ever believe me.” Kendrick, who contributed to the set, added, “The creative process is so crazy as far as going in there and narrowing down all these songs. Thousands of songs [to pick from].” A launch date is not known at this time.

ROBIN THICKE REUNITES WITH LIL WAYNE

While working on his upcoming album, Love After War, Robin Thicke revealed that he’s teamed up with Lil Wayne on a song called “Pretty Little Heart.” In addition, the disc will include collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Faith Evans, Usher and Maxwell. As previously mentioned, the follow-up to 2009′s Sex Therapy lands on November 18th.

JUVENILE, MANNIE FRESH WORKING ON A NEW ALBUM

According to XXLMag.com Juvenile is back in the studio and working with Mannie Fresh on a new album titled Rejuvination. Juve told XXL, “Mannie Fresh doing most of the beats on this album. We trying to get the mix straight on the single.” While details are sparse, the LP will have features from Drake, Lloyd and Rick Ross.

JOHN LEGEND PRODUCES NEW FAMILY SHOW

According to Deadline.com, John Legend’s executive produced family sitcom has been picked up by NBC. The show, Mixed Blessings, reportedly follows “a prominent, black, street-bred hip-hop artist enjoying his single life who discovers that he has a teenage son and decides to connect with him and his white suburban family.” This is the singer’s first venture into television.

· Here are further details on the series: “The show explores the culture clash and the complicated journey of a father and son beginning their relationship as the dad soon discovers that fame, talent, and wealth get you nowhere when it comes to parenting.”

COMMON: “NAS IS THE BEST RAPPER ALVE”

During a recent appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Common had nothing but high praise for Nas. The rapper, who was promoting his new book, One Day It’ll All Make Sense, stated, “Nas is so poetic with it and I feel like his lyrics, you can write ‘em down on paper and they will last for time. LADY GAGA CALLS FOR MEETING WITH OBAMA 

Lady Gaga has reached out to President Obama to try to set up a meeting to discuss hate crimes following the death of 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer last weekend. Gaga wants Obama to enact laws making bullying a hate crime. Rodemeyer, who had posted an “It Gets Better” video in May about his long struggle with bullying at school, took his life on Sunday after what his parents said was years of taunting over his sexuality. In his video, Rodemeyer cited Gaga as an inspiration and on Wednesday, Gaga expressed her sadness over Rodemeyer’s death via Twitter, writing: “The past days I’ve spent reflecting, crying, and yelling. I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someone’s life.” She added that bullying “must become illegal. It is a hate crime.”

NAS GIVES BACK TO UNICEF ORGANIZATION

AllHipHop.com reports Nas is taking part in the “Month of Giving” along with other artists to help support children in Africa. He joins late Beatles member George Harrison and wife Olivia Harrison to give back to the UNICEF organization.

Ever since photos of Rihanna and Drake going out to dinner together in downtown Montreal, Canada surfaced online, many assume that their old fling is back on. However, Drizzy told ExtraTV.com, “We were just in the same place. It was just like a one isolated time with a lot of photos from that one time.” There you have it.

RZA LANDS NEW FILM ROLE

According to Variety.com, The Rza has landed a new role in the upcoming film, G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes. The rapper will portray a martial arts expert named “Blind Master.” The emcee will star alongside Dwayne Johnson in the 3D sequel, which opens later this year.

According to Pitchfork.com, MellowHype from Odd Future spilled new information regarding the rap group’s much-talked about collaboration with Nas. Mellow explained that the “song is almost finished. We’re just waiting on a verse. It will be Frank Ocean, Tyler, Hodgy Beats, and Nas. I’m just stoked to be on a song with him. I know I’ll meet him eventually.” No word on when the song will be released.

According to RapRadar.com, Jeremih and 50 Cent recently received a double platinum plaque for their duet, “Down On Me.” The duo accepted the plaque during this past weekend’s Powerhouse 2011 concert in L-A. The song is lifted from the singer’s latest album, All About You, which is in stores now.

Former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger is celebrating her 33rd birthday today! She was born Nicole Presovia Elikolani Valiente Scherzinger in Hawaii on this day, back in 1978. Her solo debut album, Killer Love, was released back in March.
