EMINEM ON TOP OF ITUNES CHART
Eminem tops both the iTunes singles chart as well as the album chart this week, with his new record Recovery. His single, “Love the Way You Lie,” is the top song, displacing last week’s number one, “California Gurls,” from
Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg. B.o.B’s “Airplanes” featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore falls to number three followed by “Billionaire” from Travie McCoy featuring Bruno Mars and Usher’s “OMG” featuring will.i.am.
Last week’s top album, Thank Me Later, from Drake slides to number two followed by Miley Cyrus’ Can’t Be Tamed, The Roots’ How I Got Over and To The Sea from Jack Johnson. <JC>
Eminem’s ‘Recovery’ isn’t just his sixth straight No. 1 debut on the Billboard album chart — it’s the record-destroyer for 2010′s best first-week sales, moving 741,000 copies since its June 18 release.
The new disc pulled a better week than Eminem’s 2009 disc, ‘Relapse,’ and his 2005 greatest hits package. ‘Recovery’ also scored impressive digital digits with 255,000 downloads — second-best only to Coldplay’s ‘Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends’ in 2008. The CD couldn’t top 1 million copies in its first week, however, a feat Eminem achieved twice before, in the recording industry’s finer days.

FACTS ABOUT DR. DRE
Dr. Dre is the founder and CEO of Aftermath Records, home to The Game,
Eminem and 50 Cent. He also used to co-own Death Row Records.
Dre got his start in music while working with the group World Class Wreckin’
Cru and later, N.W.A.
His first solo album, The Chronic, was released through Death Row Records in
1993. He later left Death Row in 1996 in order to start his own label,

Dr. Dre only has three albums: The Chronic, 2001, and the soon to be
released Detox.
Detox, Dr. Dre’s third and final studio album, was indented to be released

artists. It is said that this album has been in the works since 2003.
Dr. Dre has won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By A Dup or Group
twice, once for “Forgot About Dre” in 2001 featuring Eminem, and “Crack A

In the world of The-Dream, there is only room for the sentiment expressed on the signage of so many airport-adjacent bars: girls, girls, girls. Like many of his contemporary R&B peers, ambiguity is an afterthought. And “Love King,” the lead single of his third album, may as well serve as a manifesto, with its boasting about scoring girls in the club, the church, the trap, his label, his bank — and in New York, L.A., Miami, Chicago, Toronto and Paris.
After all, Terius Nash’s biggest hits, Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and Rihanna’s “Umbrella,” were written for the fairer sex. And throughout his solo career, he’s ignored everything but carnal concerns, studiously aping his models Prince and R Kelly, while embellishing his lover-man lust with ornate, Timbaland-influenced productions.
Although his previous efforts amply showcased his admirable melodic gifts and sturdy but soaring falsetto, he projected a facelessness that demarcated him from his idols. “Love King” again finds him covering well-trodden ground, but this time he manages to put a fresher spin on tired tropes — conspiring with T.I. on “Make Up Bag” to list the $5,000 purses a man can purchase to redeem his misbehavior. On “Florida University,” he lambastes a spurned lover calling him out on Twitter.
Behind the boards, he wisely expands his palette, incorporating chopped-and-screwed vocals and arena-ready synths cribbed from Kanye West.
Ultimately, while occasionally repetitive, “Love King” proves that The-Dream’s claim to the throne isn’t unfounded, even if it’s unclear whether he’s left the bedroom in the last five years.
